1805: Lewis & Clark Check Out a McDonald’s For the First Time

The legendary explorers, tasked with surveying the newly purchased Louisiana Territory, described their discovery of the fast food chain as one of the highlights of their trip, even though the burgers gave Clark a bit of a stomach ache afterward and the milkshake machine was down for cleaning .

    Mickey D’s burgers were obviously much larger back then, not the poker chips they sell today at 20 times the price

    I haven’t eaten anything from MacDonald’s since 1982. People were and are being harmed by eating there.

    Great picture. I lived out west on the Lewis and Clark Trail – on the Snake River into Washington State. And small world – My Rev War Patriot had his grand son go on the Adventure across the USA in 1804 – Jabetz Weiser – from PA.
