Mel Gibson reportedly reenacted his iconic “Braveheart” freedom yell as his L.A. mansion burned down, sources have confirmed.
The actor, known for his dramatic flair, took a method acting approach to disaster as he stood in his driveway, face painted in the blue and white of his famous role, shouting “Freedom!” to the flames.
Neighbors and emergency responders were initially confused, unsure if Gibson was filming a sequel or truly in distress. “I thought it was a very committed neighborhood watch meeting at first,” one onlooker noted, dodging a falling, flaming palm tree.
Gibson, who reportedly refused to evacuate until he completed his performance, emphasized that if his house had to go, it would go out with historical drama. Firefighters, however, were less enthusiastic about the historical accuracy of his costume under the circumstances.
Hollywood insiders speculate that Gibson’s dramatic display could reignite his career, potentially leading to a new series of disaster movies starring the actor himself.
As of press time, Gibson was seen discussing screenplay ideas with a firefighter, who suggested the next reenactment be at a safer location, like a water park.
