In a bold move that has satirists shaking in their boots, Germany has reportedly made jokes illegal, sources have confirmed.
The new law, passed in a hushed session of the Bundestag, outlaws humor of any kind, citing the need to maintain “seriousness and order” in public discourse.
The German government, long known for its stoic demeanor, has declared that laughter is a distraction from the very serious business of being German. “It is not efficient to be frivolous,” stated a government spokesperson while not cracking a smile. Comedians throughout the country are now in a mad dash to adjust their acts, turning to PowerPoint presentations on fiscal responsibility and the importance of sorting recycling as their new forms of entertainment.
Police are now equipped with laughter meters, and anyone caught chuckling, guffawing, or even smirking in public could face stiff penalties. The international community has reacted with a mixture of disbelief and a very cautious silence, not wanting to be the next to fall foul of the new regulations.
As of press time, German humor magazines were being repurposed into instruction manuals on the correct way to assemble IKEA furniture without smiling.
OMG…….now this is my kind of humor! I am a musician by trade and I find humor and irony in almost everything. We call everyone else……..civilians. The Harris/salad piece? oh yeah.LOLOL
Reopen the camps. People will stop laughing.
Stupid!!!! Next they’ll outlaw pooping during certain hours due to climate change! Only the people can stop the insanity! How are you supposed to suppress a laugh,( a natural reoccurring emotion), that all people experience? Even animals laugh! Fortunately, I do not live in Germany because if I saw something funny and was not allowedi to laugh it would make me laugh even harder just trying to hold it in! I’d be busted in 5 minutes! Seriously, this is ridiculous!!
Boycott the Krauts.
